Gears TV relaunched as Gears/Reloaded today. The new model combines features from Gears, Reloaded, and the Mayfair guide into a single service. Service offerings include the GearsTV/Reloaded service only (Gears Extreme) and Gears/Reloaded with muti-view catchup, web viewing, chat functions and integrated Mayfair guide with increasing number of connections priced out. Their are some nice enhancements to the Mayfair Guide which has always been rated one of if not the best EPG available along with a "multi-view" function that allows a user to run up to (4) multiple streams in 25% quadrants of your screen. The catch however is that for each stream running in multi-view a connection license is required. The other enhancement was always available for Reloaded customers...web viewing. Web viewing is included in all Gears/Reloaded packages but not in Gears Extreme packages.
It has also been stated that all sports stations will be running at 60 FPS under the new platform.
I upgraded both the guide and the Gears APKs today and everything is stable but the catch up and sports scores functions are not yet functional but should be in upcoming days. Overall the merge/upgrade looks good and picture quality seems improved across the board but then again that could just be my perspective.
I am relatively new to the IPTV services world and have come to realize that Gears is one of the more pricier solutions but also seems to be known as one of the more stable ones as well. Considering my overall savings by cutting the cord I am not bothered by their price point as long as the service remains stable and of high quality. While they have a limited channel selection compared to other services offering hundreds if not thousands more channels I personally only require what Gears offers so again its a matter of preference I guess. Anyway thought to post here for those that might be interested. I am not a reseller, just a customer. More info can be obtained through various resellers or you can go directly to the source at www.omarsvideos.com for more pricing information.
Predictably didn't launch with Reloaded's catchup feature, and which essentially means this "merger" really just amounts to them getting rid of Reloaded. So basically it is just back to being GearsTV only with a fancy new name.
Feel bad for the mods that are going to have to spend the next couple months getting barraged with "when is the catchup being added" question. Lot of of those people buying subs off Omar are pretty blinded to the fact he tends to talk about and promise a lot of things he isn't ever going to realistically follow through on.
